DigiOutreach Celebrates Heritage Day by Planting Roots for the Future

On Heritage Day, DigiOutreach celebrated the spirit of growth, unity and sustainability by supporting a cause that goes beyond the festivities. Our donation of R25,000 to Greenpop enabled the planting of 166 trees, a living tribute to our shared heritage and commitment to a greener and healthier South Africa.

Greenpop: Restoring ecosystems, reconnecting people

Founded in 2010, Greenpop is an award winning registered non-profit organisation dedicated to restoring ecosystems and inspiring environmental stewardship. From reforestation and urban greening to food gardening and environmental education, Greenpop has planted hundreds of thousands of trees and engaged communities across Southern Africa.

Their mission is rooted in the belief that when people connect with nature, they become inspired to protect it. By combining large-scale restoration projects with hands-on action and education, Greenpop continues to serve both the planet and the people who call it home.

A celebration of harmony and heritage

DigiOutreach’s Heritage Day celebration was not only about planting trees, but also about honouring the roots that connect us. As our volunteers assembled, they were welcomed by a harmonic marimba band, a sound that resonates deeply with South Africa’s diverse cultural identity. During their breaks, their efforts were rewarded by enjoying coffee and koeksisters, small but meaningful reminder of how our heritage is carried through food, music and community.

Planting and serving the planet

At its heart, Heritage Day reminds us of the importance of connection, to one another, to our histories and to the earth that sustains us. By planting 166 trees with Greenpop, we are sowing seeds of hope that will grow for generations to come.
